Archie DeLeslie Way
General Notes: In the 1920's, Archie Way (my Wife's GrandFather) owned a small house on Way Rd. The house was too near a creek which flooded the house on occasion. Eber Way lived on the same road a little further on. After Eber died, the property was owned by the Lamonie's [416] (not sure of spelling). Lamonie wanted land that included a creek and Archie wanted the farmland and house. So they made a trade about 50 acres for 50 acres and Archie and family moved into "Eber's house". Later on Ethel and Virginia moved in with Archie so my wife actually spent a number of childhood years there. Noted events in his life were: • Occupation: Worked at Beck's Tannery, Abt 1900, Spring Creek, PA. 8 • Occupation, 1910, Dairy Farmer. 2 • Location, 1910, Columbus Township, PA. 2 • Census, 1920, PA, Warren, Columbus. 9 occupation Farmer. Also present Georgia, Ethel J, Anna A, and Charles A. • Census, 1930, PA, Warren, Columbus. 10 occupation Farmer. Also present Charles A, Jennie M, Fern M Bemis, Ruth Bemis, and Clifton Bemis Archie married Georgiana "Georgia" Amelia Hines, daughter of John Hines and Jane Clark, on 19 Apr 1900 in Jamestown, NY. (Georgiana "Georgia" Amelia Hines was born on 5 Dec 1884 in Spring Creek, PA and died on 14 Aug 1927 in Spring Creek, PA.) |
