David, If I might ask what is your source for the father of James Eaken born 1808? I have his father as being James Eaken who died in about 1818 in Centre County! And it is true that his mother was Hannah, actually Hannah Davis, the daughter of Joseph Davis of New Jersey, who served in the Revolutionary War. Hannah had two sibling, Cornelius and Joseph! Hannah also married George Eaken and although I have no proof, he was probably a brother of James Eaken. There were other siblings of James, born in about 1780. Sally, Jane, Margaret, Robert, Walter, Andrew and George! There was about eight children of James Eaken and Hannah Davis. When James died, the children were split up and taken care of, I guess, until Hannah got remarried again. George and Hannah were married about 1823 and they had one daughter, Lucinda born 1824. There is more. Hannah and George moved to Doylestown, Wayne County, Ohio. Her other children were: Margaret, John, Jane, Christina, James, Mary, Catherine, Hannah, and Andrew! Kevin Reinhard ----------------- Kevin, Thanks for all the information. My Great Grandfather was James Eaken. This would be a third James Eaken the Grandson of James and Hannah. It occurs to me, though, that I don't have any real proof that my Great Grandfather was the son of James Eaken II. Do you have any information on the children of James Eaken II? My Great Grandfather was born Apr 1850 in Ohio (from census records) and married to Mary Trumbell. Dave At 11:02 PM 4/25/2003 -0400, you wrote: So you are a descendent of this James Eaken, son of James Eaken and Hannah Davis?? If that is the case, then James and Hannah (Davis) Eaken had a daughter, Mary, Born 1810 who married David Hallowell, which the name spelling changed to Halliwill. David Hallowell and Mary Eaken are my great great great grandparents. Their son, Ezeckiel, born 1842 married Lydia Barnard and their daughter Miami Frances Hallowell, married John Henry Reinhard. My grandfather, Clarence Reinhard, born 1886, was their son! I got the sons and daughters of James Eaken and Hannah Davis from the church records of Centre County, Pennsylvania which is where the Eaken family was before coming to Ohio. It is said that James and George Eaken"s father was Andrew Eaken who was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. And also I have found where John Eaken was the father. I do know that in the obituary of Margaret Eaken Mc Elhennie born 1794, it says that the father was the youngest of 12 sons. As to when the Eakens came to America is still not known! Kevin Reinhard --------------- David, My name is Kevin Reinhard and I am a descendent of James Eaken and Hannah Davis! In your file on Ancestry.com you have James Eaken born 1808 as the son of George Eaken and unknown Hannah! I got the old church records from Centre County, Pennsylvania! Kevin Reinhard Oh and David, Hannah was the daughter of Joseph Davis who was in the Revolutionary War and was from New Jersey! Sje had two brothers Cornelius and Joseph, I believe! bY THE WAY CAN i ASK, where you located? K Reinhard |
